4 Pounder

I am happy to share that I just called the NICU to check on our baby Jackson because he gets weighed every night.  We were thinking he would be four pounds sometime this weekend.  He is four pounds RIGHT NOW!  YAY!

Today was another big day for Jackson.  His doctor ordered that his desat monitor be turned off.  Whoa...that made Jackson's Mommy really worried because he still had desats all the time.  If his monitor is turned off, his alarm won't signal, his nurses won't know he is desating, they won't know he isn't breathing...these were all things I was thinking about and panicking about.  I expressed my concern to the nurse (I have become quite the mama bear!).  She reassured me that all his desats are short and he quickly gets out of them himself.  He doesn't require any kind of stimulation.  She said the Dr. wouldn't turn it off until he was sure Jackson was ready.  To make me feel better, she kept his monitor on until the afternoon.  She also said that we all desat all the time.  Our breathing patterns are irregular-sometimes our breathing quickens or is shallow throughout the day.  That made me feel better...kind of.

Like Nick mentioned in yesterday's post, Jackson moved to South tonight.  And Mommy worried some more.  We had gotten very comfortable in the regular NICU, had a nice routine established, and Jackson shared a big room with just one other baby.  South isn't so pretty...to be honest it's very small and somewhat dark and depressing.  There isn't much privacy, and it's too small to hold visitors comfortably.  There are 6 babies total in one big room, sharing two nurses.  I know I should be so much more excited about his big move.  Only babies that are gaining weight and off oxygen and well on there way home get to go to South.  So it really is a good thing!  I just don't deal with change very well I suppose.  But Jackson settled in great, and we will continue to take it a day at a time.  Me being the mama bear again, asked the nurses to keep Jackson on his tummy  and off his back so he wouldn't have desats tonight.  The nurses promised me they would keep him off his back.

Nick and I got to hold Jackson a lot again today.  We just fall in love with him more and more each day.  Oh, I just love him so much.  He is so sweet, loves to cuddle, and is the cutest thing in the world!  I am so blessed to be his Mommy!

Nick was sweet and posted a bunch of pictures of Jackson and me yesterday, so here are some Jackson and Daddy photos!
